Perpetual Motion; An Ancient Mystery Solved?

This was my first book and it contains a full biography of Johann Bessler’s life, with details of all the tests and examinations carried out on his various machines, as well as eyewitness reports.  It was first published in 1997 and is currently being updated.  The new version will not be ready for several months and I anticipate publication towards the latter end of 2007.  For those who wish to know all about Johann Bessler this book is ideal. It is available in both hard copy and digital format (PDF).  A copy of the cover is to the right of this text

Poetic Apologia

This was Johann Bessler’s first major publication and is an account of his search for perpetual motion and how he overcame severe obstacles to finally succeed.  He talks of his enemies and how they tried to persuade people that he was a fraud.  He also hints in several places that there is more to the book than appears at first sight. I have mentioned on the ‘First Codes’ page his first use of codes which was in this book, although there also a section of encoded material in his very first publication, ‘Grundlicher Bericht’ which I will mention below.  I have included a full English translation at the end.  A copy of the cover is to the right of this text

Das Triumphirende

This was Bessler’s most professional publication. It was written in two languages, side by side on each page, in German and Latin. The idea was to make the book appeal to a broad cross-section of people.  Latin was the traditional language of teaching in universities all over Europe and of course was used in Church services.  This made it a universal language and a highly suitable medium for spreading his message.  The book contains a number of drawings of his wheel; although none of them show the internal workings.  The examination certificates issued by various bodies is also included and these describe the actual tests carried out to prove or disprove the power of the wheels. I have included a full English translation at the end.  A copy of the cover is to the right of this text

Grundlicher Bericht

This means ‘Thorough Report’ and was Johann Bessler’s first publication. Although it includes a drawing of his wheel and has several pages of text, I am not certain that he authored the text.   It is said to be by two scientists who were supporters of Bessler and their name do appear later in other texts. The style is reminiscent of his own and describes the wonderful benefits of owning such a machine. The drawing is the one usually shown in items about the inventor and he reproduced it later in Das Triumphirende, but with less detail and one or two elementary errors.  The book is interesting and also contains some encrypted material.  I have included a full English translation at the end.  A copy of the cover of the book is to the right of this piece of text.

Maschinen Tractate

This book was never published and consists of 141 drawings.  These are impressions from woodcuts and many of them have almost illegible notes written adjacent to them. I have managed to read most of the writing and have added a translation to each picture. These drawings were found after Bessler’s death and consisted of a pile of loosely bound papers. It is clear that it was a work in progress and the inventor planned to publish a finished version eventually. A copy of the cover of the book is to the right of this piece of text.
